The Biggest Reason Your Website Isn’t Getting Traffic

the real reason your website isn't getting enough trafficOne of the biggest things between you and getting more website traffic?

It’s not that you don’t understand SEO (even if you don’t).

It’s not that you don’t have a budget for Facebook Ads (even if you don’t).

It’s not even that you website “just isn’t quite right yet” (even if you think it isn’t).

It’s your fear.

What?

Yes. your fear.

Your big fear of putting yourself out there.

Does this sound inexplicable to you? Totally foreign?

Let me tell you.

If you are semi-new to your business…

If you have a website but haven’t seen a lot of traffic…

If you’ve bought a lot of online courses of how to build your business but haven’t done any of the work…

You might suffer from a big fear.

The big Putting Yourself Out There fear.

Which is basically What If They Don’t Like Me fear.

Or What If They Think I’m a Fraud fear.

You’re not a fraud.

Even if you think you are.

You started your business because you have a skill/service/product that you think can help people.

Whether it helps them in their business or in their personal lives.

Whether it has a specific ROI or it has an imprecise emotional value.

You started your business for a reason.

Not just because you “wanted to make a difference” or “wanted to help people.”

Because you’re capable.

And some of the MOST impactful actions you can take to drive more traffic to your website and ultimately get you more clients & customers requires you to bust through that fear.

Anxious over submitting yourself for a speaking spot a conference your customers love? Push through it.

Scared of hitting send on a helpful email to a “big” influencer that your customers are obsessed with? Push through it.

Frightened of all the attention a guest blog post or interview on a big podcast might bring? Push through it.

Here’s a secret I have to tell you: the more you do these things, the less they frighten you.

Tell me – what’s your worst case scenario that you’re afraid of? That you’ll attract a hater? Haters just mean you’ve made it :)

I recently finished Mindy Kaling’s Why Not Me and I love her advice on the subject of where you get confidence:

“Confidence is just entitlement. Entitlement has gotten a bad rap because it’s used almost exclusively for the useless children of the rich, reality TV stars, and Conrad Hilton Jr., who gets kicked off an airplane for smoking pot in the lavatory and calling people peasants or whatever. But entitlement in and of itself isn’t so bad. Entitlement is simply the belief that you deserve something. Which is great. The hard part is, you’d better make sure you deserve it.”

Are you good at what you do? Do you have happy clients? Then, yes you “deserve” it as Mindy says.

The only thing standing between you and getting traffic and clients is yourself.

But don’t worry – you got this.

[Sounds good but still not sure where to start? Try this.]
